Our Story

Many of the CEDC's programs were originally started under the sponsorship of PACE (People Acting in Community Endeavors) in 1997. Co-founded by William Maddocks and Corinn Williams, planning began in 1996 when they noticed the lack of community development corporations in the Southeastern Mass.

Today, the CEDC represents the region of Southeastern Massachusetts as a member of the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC).

Now nearing its 10th anniversary, the CEDC is pleased to announce that it has moved into expanded facilities at 181 Hillman Street, Building #9, Room 203 in New Bedford. We welcome you to visit us!

Principles and Practices

• Commitment to the CEDC-SM as a “learning organization” with a participatory bottom-up approach to community economic development
